Last 4 pictures posted last year. One of the best things the next chapter of our life will bring us is the fact that we'd have a greater chance of scratching another itch - the itch to travel. Since coming back from our almost 3 year sojourn in the land of 3Cs (cows, chocolates and cheese), we decided to travel again around the Philippines (Cebu, Davao, CDO, Pagsanjan, Tagaytay, Boracay), a passion my wife and I started since we got married. Our domestic travels have taken us in and around the Philippines with memorable experiences to boot: from a 10-hour drive from Paranaque to Vigan on a whim; cleaning the algae in Pagudpud, reenacting Pinoy movie romantic scenes on the belltower of Bantay and the sinking tower of Laoag, paying homage to the wax of Marcos in Batac. We never always had a car to bring us to wherever we wanted. I remember we went down from a bus at a dirt road in Solano, Nueva Ecija, which had crossroads leading either to Sagada and Banaue, and decided on the last minute to go to Banaue instead. We've gone through a 3-kilometer walk in the clouds along the edges of the terraces and passed numerous waterfalls in Banaue. We were at awe in the presence of the ampitheatre like terraces of Batad; we rode a bus from Pasay after work to join the family in Villa Escudero in Quezon; we were on our own and played all day (it's not seen at night) in Naked Island in Siargao; and swam with schools of fish in Crocodile Island near Boracay. We've trekked Corregidor, climbed the mountainous farmlands in Davao, spent the whole day doing nothing in the beaches of Cebu and yes, made Visita Iglesia in the great churches of Laguna and Rizal, rode a 6-hour bus ride from Butuan to Davao City amidst the lush greenery of Agusan and just recently was in front of a throng of stars in Boracay. Not movie stars for we were almost alone in the island last June. There are many places in the Philippines to rival what we've seen in Provence, Tuscany or Santorini. Maybe even better. There are activities that we have not done yet, whale-shark (butanding) watch in Sorsogon, ghost hunt in Siquijor, climb the Cagsawa bell tower to be close to Mayon, drink beer fronting the cool waters of Palawan and Bohol. We wanted to drive from our house to Davao via Marcos Bridge in Samar-Leyte, we wanted to walk and see the mouths of Taal and Pinatubo, devour all-we-can the sweet mangoes from Guimaras, design our own kiping house in Lucban, we plan to climb and get ourselves our own buko juice from our own coconut trees in Davao or Siargao. We have so much to dream about doing. We might not have enough time with 5 weeks to go. That's why we're coming back. That's for sure. Sabi nga ni GMA, "biyahe na!" << Bookmark this post on:
