Look At My Plastic Smile Hiding the Pain of a Laker Loss - Just 1 Game. Just 1 Game. United Colors of Benetton dancers "Labs, I Found Our Next Car..." Last Sunday was Better than A Choco Sundae Toronto, Ontario This week had a great start. Well I'm not counting the quick start we had to make to catch a 9:19 morning bus, from our apartment's doorsteps to the next block. All within 2 minutes. Well, thanks to our grade school PE teachers for our 50-meter dash workouts and Mississauga suburb roads which are almost devoid of cars on a Sunday morning, we barely made it. 9:30am, we met up with Mike, Jo's hubs who was good enough to join us despite his sprain, to our first time to the Canadian International Auto Car Show. Its the only time and probably the only place to see all of the major car brands in one place. It's also the only legal time to gawk at cars (other than open parking lots) and in fact get in one. Now I'm not deprived of getting to be seen behind the wheel of a Porsche Boxster. 1pm, game time! The 2.5 hours of looking at fast cars was now replaced with following fast breaks. Kobe and the Lakers were in Toronto for the only time the whole NBA season. Imagine 3 hours to be with your bball idol. The feeling to be a Laker fan for more than 20 years and being strapped to your seat everytime the Lakers made a great shot was quite unimaginable. Let alone when Kobe made that breakaway thunderous dunk in the first quarter - I wasn't able to help myself and made a barbaric yawp capped with a loud "YESSSSSSS!". (Pan out camera and show someone on Section 118 being mob-lynched by 19,899 people). Well it was only my wife who reminded me I was in Toronto and I live here. So the rest of the game, I was clapping in my head and instead of shouting DE-FENSE. DE-FENSE. I was mumbling OF-FENSSSEEE, OF-FENSSSSE. Halftime came and I had to go out and let steam loose and shout in the Men's room cubicle. Of course, that's an exaggeration. There were as many Kobe 8 Laker jerseys as great looking women patrons. The place was brimming with beauty. I had one beside me the whole time, our first live NBA game together. Despite being together for 13 years, having ran around the sunflower fields of Provence, living for 5 days in a Tuscan village, it's just our first time to see a basketball game live, together. The Lakers lost by the way. No prob. There'r are still new things to discover. Everyday. ******** Eh- eh -eh., a fun-eh take on Canada. Go read eh. << |
