I Dreamt of Being Back to See the Statue But never thought it was with my parents Everyone was in their best Statue of Liberty costume look-a-like :) Enjoyed, Fullfilled but definitely Dog Tired from the heat Next time I'll See The Statue will be with.... with a torch raised to the sky. And all who see her, know she stands for liberty for you and I." I was 6 years old, when I first saw her in a polaroid. I thought she was just another landmark I'd forever see in postcards, movies or travel advertisements. Her raised arms and a book became so familiar, sometimes I'd use that image to rib classmates who carry books her manner, "para ka namang si Statue of Liberty, with your books carried that way.". I'd only see the torch and I'd know it was her. Just a part of her complete self, the crown, the pouting lips, the seemingly closed eyes, seen in pics would definitely conjure the complete image of the Statue. This time I got closer, but never went up. Maybe soon. Maybe not. Sometimes your dreams are better seen when you're asleep, sometimes they are better experienced with some tinge of mystery - from afar. ******* Here's a look back at the weekend we can call "Autumn in New York" << |
