Little League on a Saturday Morn I know Comedy Like the Back of my Hand Play on Weekdays, Work during Weekends Los Angeles, California (April 2005) Life is full of contradictions. While there are things in life that are constant like the sunset and sunrise, what happens between them is something we can't get a hold on nor plan ahead with ease. We may pride ourselves to be the greatest planner in the world, carrying with us nifty gadgets to remind us of what to do, a PDA in our left pocket, a cellphone on the right, an alarm clock by the bedside and a Tivo to plan our TV viewing. But when things dont happen as they should, how it should, maybe not the way we thought it would, we feel we missed out on something and ask ourselves, "why?" ******* FIRST TO BE LAST Prior to flying to LA, I arrived in Calgary with a good two hours before my continuing flight, or so I thought. The situation was perfect, sleep in the lounge for an hour, grab lunch, take some pics around the airport, until I realized that that the 2-hour layover was actually just an hour. And that adjusting my watch to LA time in the plane wasn't the brightest idea after all, since Calgary was still in a different timezone. So there I was - the first to be in the waiting area, but the last one to come in (just in time) and board the plane. Whew! ******* PUTTING FUN INTO DYSFUNCTION Arrived in LA just in time to join friends for a night out at the Comedy Club. With a name like that, you expect the best night full of guffaws after a seemingly endless flight. I imagined Jay Leno or Robin Williams making a surprise visit to test their jokes, but what we got were a lot of curtain openers and also-rans and a lot of expectations unmet. It was a great show but when comedians start to make jokes on ethnicities or handicaps, of old people and politicians, then what was supposed to be a night full of laughs didnt happen after all. Well for me... ******* It's been awhile since I last saw Tagalog TV. In fact In fact, I miss seeing Kris Aquino on TV and remember how entertaining it is to watch her. My, my, my. How she's grown. It's just fun to be transported close to home while watching something from the Philippines. ******* 5 Year Old Handcuffed by Police.. This one definitely filed under, "What the Hell Were They Thinking ?" Section. You want to see how they did it? Click the video via BBC. ******* If only I could do this here in LA, while I stay home with my wife. It's a wild wild weird world indeed. << |
