Toronto's Open Doors Both along Church St., Toronto, Ontario (May 29 2005) Toronto had its annual Doors Open program last weekend. The site describes it as "one weekend, once a year - when over 100 buildings with architectural, historic or cultural significance open their doors to the public for a city-wide celebration." But all of us passed up the opportunity and proceeded on our way to a hearty and heavenly Sunday lunch at Jamie Kennedy which was opening its doors for us at its only branch at 9 Church St. Along the way, I made some window shopping. Rather, window shooting. The two above were the results. One will enjoy walking around Toronto, known for its old architecture (Cathedral Church of St. James, Home to Toronto's first Christian community, this English Gothic Revival church is noted for the tallest spire in Canada, some very fine stained glass, and North America's only peal of 12 change-ringing bells) and restored ones (an office with bright orange paint!). ********* PinoyExpats.org's latest issue is out. As always, the wait was all worth it. They have buttons for your site. Here's my favorite (designed by Cynthia and prepared by Kala, both great artist friends). Speaking of Kala, here's a missing piece of her naming some of her great possessions. Think you missed this one. No server to host your button? You can use this URL for it: http://photos12.flickr.com/16359160_57e5f2a706_t.jpg. Free of charge. Be part of the shaping of the new and much improved PinoyExpats E-Zine, by reading the articles, leaving a comment or two, joining the discussion board or by ansewring the customer survey too. It only takes less than 3 minutes. While there, drop a visit to The Team page. Guess who's the only rose among the thorns? or under the pain of a comment spam backlash, I'm the only worm among the petals...I must say. << |
