Stuffed Peppers with Brown Rice Fajitas Fajitas and Stuffed Peppers Mississauga, Ontario No, Memento is not going to be a Food Blog :) But it might be with the many dishes my wife has concocted the last couple of days. But talk about Food Blogs, here's one from a friend. Let's see if you don't linger for an hour with her Top 10 lists, must-try recipes and reviews of must-go-to great restos around Metro Manila. She recently reviewed 2 restos my wife and I were able to sample a few years back, Ricco Renzo and Cirkulo. Here's a sample of great desserts from 2 years ago. What's really good is that the pictures make you want to eat your computer screen. Galing, Lori! ********* One good thing about Toronto's resto scene is that any given day, you can decide to go Greek, Indian, Thai, Japanese or practically anything, while not having to drive for more than 10-20 minutes. For the same amount of time, back in the Philippines, we needed to do it on a week night, if not we'd be lucky to be in Bicutan interchange in 20 minutes. As a couple (I don't go out much without my wife), we were in Manila for a total of 1 year and maybe 3 months in the last 6 years, and from memory our Top Metro Manila Restos (not in order): • Best Non-Hotel Steak: Melo's • Best Barbecue: Lami or Aling Nene • Best Desserts: Conti's • Best Reasonably Priced Japanese Resto: Zaifu • Best Indian Cuisine: Bombay (at Buendia Shopping Plaze before they moved to Sagitarrius) Even being south suburban denizens, we loved going as far as Kulinarya (even when it was in Katipunan) and Casa Armas (in Nakpil). One time, we even drove to Sta Rosa on a whim for some bulalo. We are such foodies! ********** Our Modus Operandi even when we were in Europe, Manila or in Toronto was that during some Saturdays when our palates decide to sample something new, we drive around and find "hole-in-the-wall" restos. Here in Toronto, just last Saturday, we just read all the reviews from Google of best Sushi restos around town, chose one and drove off in a jiffy. There was another time, we read something from the papers and on the same day went downtown Toronto to validate the review. Both times, we weren't disappointed. When it comes to trying out new things we rarely get disappointed. Our radars to great restos are strong. Really we're such great foodies! << |
