Bringing Good News Los Angeles, California I'm Junnie and I'm a sports addict. I used to play a lot of it when I was younger and healthier. But now, I've left to become a great spectator. It's the first channel I open on TV. It's the first section I read from broadsheets and tabloid papers. I've had subscriptions at one time or another for Slam, NBA Digest, Sports Illustrated, Beckett Basketball and everything I can get a year's subscription for a tiny proportion of newsstand prices. So this week was a good time to be flying, especially since it was a great sports week: j I was in Charlotte when Carolina Panthers were beating the fur out of the Chicago Bears - with the pilot updating the fans as we were up at 30,000 feet k Arrived in LA, when Kobe and Shaq embraced at the start of the ballgame. But in the end, the Lakers and Kobe were embracing victory. But hey, its been more than a year since Kobe and Shaq were holding hands. l Had the chance of seeing Manny Pacquiao in Vegas whip Morales but decided against that to keep to my original plan for this weekend. Of course we know now, Pacquiao won. and I wasnt able to keep to my planned suprise visit :( m Lastly, was in LAX en route to Toronto, and saw on TV, how Kobe scored 81 points unfortunately, against the Toronto Raptors, who were leading by 18 points before Kobe took charge of the game n Arrived in Pittsburgh after a red-eye flight to celebrate with Steeler fans their entry to the Superbowl. Woohoo. Now, I'm back in Toronto - in time for the National Elections. Canada is back to being less Liberal to be more Conservative.. Consider me a bearer of good luck in sports and not in politics. God bless us. ******** Being in sports and starting kids young provide the best tools for the best job. Where in the world can you get a million-dollar paying job and call it a game? But really, joining sports taught me to be disciplined (to practice even after we won the game the previous night), teamwork (i enjoyed passing than shooting the ball) and being magnanimous in both victory and defeat. All these and the character-formation that sports gives helped prepare me for school and of course work, and this time in business. ******** Sports Link of the Week Watch the historic 81-point game of Kobe in its entirety from Google Video for $ 3.95. It's Google Video vs. Itunes. Currently, Google Video s downloading functionality isn't available for Mac users, unless you have Windows XP running in your Mac and moreover, just like Itunes, most videos are only available in the US. kainis. :( ******** But there's one thing that is available globally and as addicting as Itunes, google or flickr - its Pinoyexpats. It's up now. Caterina Fake, the founder of Flickr.com is its featured (Pinay) of the month. Well..half-Pinay...uhmm, someone with Filipino descent...whatever...what matters is, she's proud of it. Go read! Please visit the Photo Essays section and enjoy some photos too. (Of course from me, a Pinoy, soon to be Ex-fat.) << |
