Toronto Photobloggers Event Apple Center, Yorkdale, Toronto, Canada I was like a small kid attending his first children's party. "I've never been into one of these for years", I was half-muttering as I went down the car, and as kid's parties go, to be picked up by my wife after I think I've "wallflowered" enough. I think I even heard my wife say "Enjoy!" - while driving away as I stood there looking around. It wasn't just my first time in a Toronto Photobloggers' event (do you just call them that?), it was also my first time in Yorkdale. Wow, we just came from Square One, the biggest mall in Mississauga, and now we're in Yorkdale, probably bigger, nah! Definitely, better! The Apple Center as a venue was perfect! It was intimate and you don't need a mic to make sessions like this more interesting. So, I learned a lot that night. I saw my Canadian Idols (haha - that one was for additional Google Hits) but definitely, definitely, I want to attend some more of these. Mitzi picked me up at 9:15pm :) And I retold to her all my first kiddie party tales. ******** My lootbag included: • great sessions from all the speakers • a U&I magazine (I forgot if I paid for this) - inside the mag was Rannie (Photojunkie) - (insert a great superlative here that hasn't been said before about Rannie) who I just had to meet after all these years • Irina (Still Memory) - my virtual friend from all the photomemes, even before we became "border neighbors" in Toronto (well, she's in Toronto, I'm still in Mississauga) • learning from Sam (Daily Dose of Imagery) - multi-awarded for Best Photoblog for the last 2 years • shock and awe of Lebron James' version (yes, Payam (Colourblind.ca) is just in highschool) of Toronto Photobloggers - proves a point that talent is both in-born and nurtured. Beside them, I'm more like "tortured." ****** I took some pics too. But I was there to listen than to snap. So I only took a few. (that's a rhyme I think I should change hobbies) << |
