7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 1, 1, 4 Mississauga, Ontario So we're moving. But before that here's a checklist that I wanted to ensure followed before the big day: R Decide on a moving date - Try to avoid Friday, busiest day- we're moving on Friday, but the movers come in on Tuesday R Before the big day, have a clear out - Guess what I've been doing for the past week? Following the dictum "everything must either be useful or beautiful" - if not useful and not beautiful - throw R Make a scale plan of each room in your new home to give to the removal team so, in theory, they know exactly where everything is to go. Colour-code packing cases and furniture in the hope that this will mean it ends up in the right rooms. Ako pah! R Make a complete inventory of everything to be moved R Advise the post office to redirect your post. Canada Post charged me $ 37 for 6 months- not bad. R Cancel milk and newspapers - Newspaper stopped today, 1 day early - must be in the new house now :) R Create change of address notice : to Utilities: water, gas and electricity providers (wala kami nito); Telephone and Internet service providers (done); Bank (one more bank), building society (done), pension provider and company you have loans or investments with (ayoko nga, para di makasingil); Credit card and store card companies (yup); Subscriptions to magazines, charities, etc. (done, done, done) and Employers (siempre para leave!) R Upon arrival, read the meters and check that the phone, security alarm, electricity, gas, central heating and water work.; Make sure all items that were included in the sale, such as carpets, curtains and light fittings, are there. If there is anything missing, contact your real estate agent. (ok, bukas) What did I miss? ********* I miss Pluto. It's not a planet anymore. I miss San Miguel Beer. I can see the logo on the Spanish Basketball Team in the current World Basketball Championships in Japan. So is the debate whether it originated from the Philippines or in Spain over? Answer.com has the answer. San Miguel Corporation started in the Philippines in 1890 and has been brewed there since 1892. Spain also has San Miguel beer, but this was brought over from the Philippines by its German brewmaster, and did not originate in Spain. Wikipedia adds that since 1953 the brewery in Spain has been under separate ownership and no longer has any connections with San Miguel Corp Philippines. The beer in Spain is brewed by San Miguel Fabricas de Cerveza y Malta S.A., part of the San Miguel-Mahou group." So - it IS a Filipino product that originated in the Philippines but is now produced by a separate company in Spain. Much like the French Fries originating from France? << |
