Shifting Gears but Staying Focused

Ortigas, Pasig City (August 2004)

"Success in anything is about focus and concentration. When I coached, I'd say to the players,
'Yes, I know you played hard, but that's not good enough.
You've got to stay focused on the task at hand the entire game."
- Rick Barry

In Europe, the only street painting I know would've beautiful works of art being "chalked" (not painted) on pavements. Back here in the Philippines, we overdo our street signs and almost always paint some of them on major streets and pavements.

This is an example of wasted paint: close to a dozen arrows, just a foot away from each other pointing to somewhere if you followed it. But just the same, it made me shift gears to move faster. Either I'm gullible or I just follow rules too much.

Digressing a bit, this week, I'd have to also shift to higher gears in our preparations for our move to Canada (that's why the title) and would be back in the groove soonest.

More talk about shifting, here is my submission to sh1ft.org's 26 Things 3. Enjoy the rest of the month.

**********

Let me point you to some websites worthy of arrows from Memento:

o According to Name Statistics Dot Com, although the spelling of my name is kinda weird, thanks to an erroneous Birth Certificate, Edwardo happens to be the #769 most common male name (0.008% of men in the US). That is around 9,800 US men are named Eduardo with a W!

o I was surprised to see my trusty Toshiba Satellite mentioned as a one with the longest battery life out there. I guess this is a lot of hogwash as I'm always the only person in Seattle's Best who plugs his laptop to their one and only socket. The rest of the guys who lug their white laptops (Ibooks?) just stay whereever they want, move around as if they're in a party of nerds, while I stay in that quiet little corner, tied to the wall, surfing and sipping my coffee. (via Slashdot)

o Ipod illegal in Australia? (If link to the article asks for registration, click note saying "Register later, continue reading the article"). I have no Ipods, yet. But I have no space for 1,200 CDs in my luggage to Canada. Is it legal to rip them and transfer them to an external hard drive? I guess not if I'm going to Australia.

o So after Catwoman, here comes another feline flick? But Garfield has my tummy size (and yes, some of my fits of laziness), and so my vote goes for it. Besides, if you've seen Spiderman 2, who cares for the next hero movie out there.
