Distillery District Toronto (October 2004) --Frank Sinatra You won't be able to see nor smell the production of wine and spirits in the area. All one can do is imagine. To just imagine the busy-ness, the hardwork of men, the sound of coal being shoved to ovens, the heat of the fire from the furnaces and the smell of wine in oak barrel crates being transported by rickety horse-driven carts. The place preserved to its original state from 150 years ago, its brickroads are among the most preserved Victorian-era cobbled pathways in Toronto. The Distillery District is a quaint part of the city just blocks away from the hustle-bustle of the busy Toronto financial district. Walking along its unevened roads, one gets transformed to another time. It's always good to remember our past. To walk where other people walked. To touch, to smell, to hear, what they experienced from another lifetime. When life was less straining...when living was a lot simpler. In places like these, one can only ask oneself, "would I still want to go back in time?" << |
