Back in the Philippines Union Station, Toronto (October 2004) Nope. We're not back home in the Philippines. Not yet. We merely found the Survivor ad painted on Union Station's floors, saw the word Philippines and realized in an instant that - we miss home. It's a good thing we've got each other to have and to hold. *** The closest that a Filipino can ever feel the warmth of being home in Toronto is inside church. Whether be it Sundays or during Wednesday mass for the Mother of Perpetual Help or Thursday novena to St. Jude, the church would be as brown as its wooden pews and benches. Am glad we never lost our faith despite the busi-ness of the city. *** Lastly, one of the great blessings that we thank God for everyday, especially last Sunday is our scheduled move to our Mississauga apartment by end of the week. We thank God too for the wonderful gifts of friendship and hospitality of our hosts for more than a month. Without them, the pangs of loneliness for a true home will all the more be felt. We hope to build our home in the next few days. You'd surely be invited to take a peek - soon! << |
