 Enjoying the Game  Huddle with Daddy-Coach  Cheering From the Sidelines Starting Em Young Manhattan Beach (January 2005) We should learn a lot from kids. Their enthusiasm, their meekness, their generosity and their outlook in life, everything that we, as adults, probably lost along the way. This I discovered last weekend as we watched and participated in the little league for hoopsters. One scene created much impact as probably the pictures we see from newspapers - a kid player on court coming out from an ongoing game to check on a friend who was crying after scratching his knee, thus leaving the game and the whole gallery dumbfounded. He held on the ball, stopped, and knelt down to his fallen friend. Threw the ball back in the court, and sat beside his friend. What a way to look at the world in a kid's eyes. Let me end this entry (and this trip) with this thought in mind, "The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child into old age, which means never losing your enthusiasm." In a couple of minutes, both of them were back on the floor. Slapping each others hands, enjoying the game.
