On his knees searching for a good book (Barnes and Noble, June 18) On his knees to ensure that daughter's shoes are tightly placed (Forks of the Credit, May 2005) Daddy Dee Do Du (Father's Day 2005) "Why do we fall, sir? So that we might better learn to pick ourselves up.", Alfred reminds Bruce Wayne (played by Christian Bale, who we also saw this week on DVD, at least 30 lbs. thinner in "The Machinist") of his late boss, Bruce's dad's favorite line. The weekend topseller, Batman Begins, is much more than a comic adaptation, it's a wonderful father-son movie, perfect for Father's Day weekend. The premise that Bruce Wayne took up being Batman was to avenge the death of his dad and mom and also lived under the wings of 2 father-figures, all-around butler, Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Caine) while working with another father-like wisdom-ful man in Lucious Fox (played by Morgan Freeman). I remember my own father with his own wisdom and his own quotes, which he continues to share to this day. He is known by his great pen name, Paparazzi, but he is more well-known for being a great inspiration to us his children and for his fortitude to live and his love for life inspires us no end to look at life with the same zeal and passion. Here was my tribute to my dad last year. ...and some favorite shots and blogs of him. • Memento Mentor (December 10, 2002) • Old ? (December 7, 2003) • Missing 'Em (July 23, 2004) • Last Minute (December 22, 2004) Do watch Batman Begins, I hope you can share with your dad the moments from the 70s when "Kapow" and "Wam" and "Bam" can be seen on screen whenever Batman gives out a punch. This time, the one-liners, the action and the great direction of my favorite director, Christopher Nolan (from whose great movie the title of this blog came from), give out the strongest punches! Happy Father's Day to all dads, sugar-dads, would-be dads, papa, itay, sa mga tatay, ama at lalong lalo na sa aking Paparazzi! << |
