Now You See, Now You Don't Toronto's First Snow, November 18, 2005 Only a few people saw it coming, or maybe I wasn't listening well to the weather forecast that morning. But it did come. Flurries came a passing and was gone a few hours after. It did come, and it went just like that. Any first fall comes with it a lot of good memories. Despite the inevitable very low temperatures (reaching -30 degrees celsius), it always is a welcome event. My wife even called me up to tell me to look at the window just to share the magical feeling. Something reminiscent of 4 years ago, our first together. Now, despite its few hour-stay, we know it'll be back, and it won't be the same again. It's going to be a love-hate feeling as the torment of cold weather, the feeling of restlessness due to limited activity outside the confines of the apartment, the slippery roads, the layering of clothes, the wearing of mittens and gloves, the toques and ear muffs. It was here and gone. It was cute the first time. I'm not so sure when it comes back to stay longer for the next 5 months or so...I'll keep you updated, with this love-hate relationship with snow. << |
