Zzzzzzzzz January 4, 2006 • Salvador Dali - the famous painter with dreamlike masterpieces, according to legend, he claimed to be fully refreshed by a very odd, brief kind of nap. The story goes that he would put a metal pan on the floor, and doze off in his chair, holding a metal spoon above the pan. When he fell asleep, he would drop the spoon, and then wake up an instant later, when the spoon hit the pan with a clatter. • Famous people such as Thomas Alva Edison, John F Kennedy, Napoleon Bonaparte and Winston Churchill despite the sensitivity and urgency of their work, average from 3-4 hours of sleep. They actually would oftentimes take micro-naps in the middle of the day. • Former Philippines' President Joseph Estrada, some reports say, would take Wednesdays off during his tenure. He believed that the middle of the week is the best time not to sign a bill or meet his cabinet and devote it to rest and recreation. He was ousted by People Power which started on a Wednesday night when senators denied the opening of a crucial envelop to ensure his acquittal. Famous sleepers include Sleeping Beauty and Rip Van Winkle, who both slept for years. I slept for a total of 12 hours today and I consider that a world record - rather a weird record. ****** Know more about sleeping by taking this short Quizzzzzzzzzzzz. << |
