The pages have turned yellow and crispy. The soles have lost its grooves and are cracked open. The seams are threadbare, the colors faded and the ink marks have been there for almost forever.

We all have that favorite book, a favorite pair of shoes or that denim pants we can't part ways with.

I have my gray ~~1991~~ 1981 (thanks Pa!) SEA Games pair of shorts. 25 years, and yet it still fits me. It was a memento from Popo, who was then Philippine Olympic Committee President and a strongman in sports. He invited Paparazzi and me to several of the games, even sitting at the box reserved for VIPs and dignataries. I was rubbing elbows at 13 years old with then Badminton President Fidel Ramos and was star gazing sports legend Lydia De Vega, up close.

I just remembered to wear the shorts this morning and remembered my Popo, a sports lover, a family man, a traveller, a man with a big heart. His last words to his wife was "I love you" just before he accidentally slipped and fell from his wheelchair 4 years ago, the day of Love. The man, full of love, died on Valentine's Day.

I have a new favorite bedside reading material.

I just got my JPG magazines, all 4 of them from the post office earlier. Boy, what a great way to be inspired to snap pictures. Now I know that when I hit that photoblogger's wall - I'll just flip to one of the pages of this great collection of great pics - and BAM! - I'm sure to be inspired.
