Fly Away Mississauga (Canada) "Whew", that was close. It was a hairline between our car and a truck after a last minute decision for me to make a U-turn to go back towards the right direction. I know it was my mistake and I wasn't paying attention. I looked at the rear view mirror if the other car's driver was giving me a dirty finger. Nope. I kept on looking, and looking and didnt recognize my light was already green. "Beeeep", oh yes, he didnt give me a bad sign, but he gave me a blaring horn for not watching the signs. One mistake after another. One can't live life in the past. One can't dwell in the mistakes we've made last year. When things are down, its always good to look up - for help. ****** Last Ash Wednesday started the season of Lent. Lent comes from an Old English word meaning Spring. Apparently by the time Lent ends, Spring begins in our part of our world. It is 40-days and 40-nights (but you should not count Sundays) of taking stock and making an inventory of our self and our relationship with God. When we were younger, we listed down 40 things to give up during this time as a form of sacrifice and self-denial knowing that we are not worthy of the love of God. The sacrifices though were self-centered. I once successfully given up watching movies (but not movies on TV), or drinking Coke (this was easy because I worked with Pepsi that year), and ice cream (because I was on a diet). I actually tried staying away from the computer, other than work and email. But that was pre-blogging days. But why deny ourselves from doing things we love doing? It's a way to prove that we can dispense of things like soda, TV, movies, and replace them with worthy activities such as reading His word or making oneself available for charitable activities. What could it be this year? ****** I may not be able to deny myself anything, so instead of subtracting, I'll be adding. I haven't had time to read and meditate on God's word for ages. Maybe this is the perfect time to do so. Not just read, meditate but to live it. I know I've been remiss before. I'm taking a U-turn towards good, I'm not going to live by my past mistakes. I need to start reading the signs as the blare of the trumpets of Zion has sounded. I need to respond. << |
