Loooong Weekend : Short Stop at Springfield Toronto to Cape Cod I bought the book from a used books section of Bookmark Escolta. At 7, I still had my mom pay for it for less than P 10. Since then, the book has been with me, by my bedside, inside the car and in my schoolbag. I probably read it for a hundred times til its pages turned yellow. It was a book about the "Basketball Hall of Fame". Last Friday upon entering Massachusetts, I realized we were passing through Springfield - the birthplace of Basketball. My heart skipped and asked my navigator-wife if I can make a short stop to be 7 years old again. Without a map, you'd think I had an internal GPS in me as I drove to Springfield, with sparse signs leading me to the place. We found it without any hitches, as if the universe was indeed conspiring in the fullfillment of a kid's dream. I didnt mind having to pay $ 34 for 2 to enter the gates and be a child once again. I can see all my troubles fade away. I can see the things I was just reading from book pages since 30 years ago. They were there in front of my very eyes. Mitzi was there to partake it! I played, I skipped, I jumped and I puffed and played ball with kids. How long does it take to fulfill a kid's dream? 30 minutes inside the Basketball Hall of Fame (I called it my Disneyland)? 5 hours from our apartment? Add 30 years too. << |
