In a survey of 100 people off the street, and if asked "Which University is the Hardest One to Get Into?", guess what the answer would be.

I bet 80% of them will say Harvard University.. Harvard, a member of the 8 Ivy League Schools (which includes Princeton University, which we also visited awhile back) has a 9.3% acceptance rate for undergrads and 4.9% for its medical school.

The oldest educational institution in the US (1638) and the most prestigious one was in our itinerary for the day. It wasnt to be missed. Blessed with the fact that 2 incoming Seniors were able to help us know more about Harvard, we got not just a tour of the beautiful, artistic, once- all Men's University, but a lot of things you wouldn't know if you were just passing by.

Except for the Love Story, movies with Harvard as the backdrop such as Legally Blonde, The Firm, The Paper Chase, Good Will Hunting, With Honors, How High, Soul Man, and Harvard Man, were not shot in Harvard. Some of them were shot in Toronto :)

I onced toyed with the idea of joining famous people who were undergrads of Harvard which include : Matt Damon and Bill Gates and those who really graduated: Tommy Lee Jones, Yo Yo Ma, Conan O'Brien, Mira Sorvino and our very own Maximo V. Soliven. Of course, one shouldn't forget to mention George W. Bush and the Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski, who was accepted to Harvard at age 16.

Our "classes" at Harvard ended at 5 pm, happy and contented with the fact that we were able to breath what Seventy-five Nobel Prize winners and fifteen Pulitzer Prize winners affiliated with the university once breathed. Famished and with our parking extended for another hour, we moved around the gates one more time before finally going to downtown Boston's Qunicy Market for dinner :).
