See You Sunday, Kobe!!!!

The poster was pinned neatly on the apartment's laundry room corkboard as early as mid-January. My wife told me in passing that there's something down there that might be of interest to me. I thought it was a trick for me to fetch the drying clothes. You know what they say, "ang magnanakaw takot sa kapwa magnanakaw."

Apparently there were no tricks. All treats. The sign said "Toronto Raptors vs. LA Lakers tickets for sale. The only visit of Kobe to Toronto this year. Buy one take one. Great seats. February 27. For only $ 180". ouch. I chose to look the other way. Besides I told myself, "Vince vs. Kobe wont happen. Vince is in New Jersey and Kobe, well, he got injured." Broke his ankle. I too cringed in pain seeing him down. Oh well. I sour graped going back to our apartment with all the newly dried clothes and told mi esposa, mahal pa rin.

To cut to the chase. Sunday, February 20, the tickets were still available. It was now down to $ 100. A number was left with those small "tear here if interested". When I mentioned to my wife it's down to $ 100, "Why don't we get it?" was her ready answer. She took out the note she made to herself (she also took the number pala in case we change our mind, silly her), and dialled. Guess what? The owner of the tickets was just our next door neighbor. Wow. No need to wait.

So there, anniversary week has not ended. We still have Oscars Sunday with an afternoon date with Mitzi, Me and Kobe!

Who watches American Idol? We do! And Melinda Lira, our great brown hope is gone. So next week, there's no reason to watch. But is she really a Filipina? Looks like she is, di ba? Well this one is. But his AI experience was shorter. Read more....

Best Picture: Ray (but Sideways will win)
Best Actor: Ray Charles errr, Jamie Foxx (but Leonardo will snatch the trophy)
Best Supporting Actor: Jamie Foxx (they'll give this to Foxx, not the Actor award)
Best Director: Martin Scorsese for sesentimental reasons; but its Clint, sayang hindi director si Jamie Foxx. Well actually he is.

I've been reading haring liwanag's Writings On Air, well, it was 10,000 Things before, now its back to its former name. Of course HL is no less than Jim Paredes, whose books I regretfully left behind in Manila.

Any other Pinoy celebrity blog sightings in the blogosphere? Here's the Hollywood version., which is not really complete, they missed out on Jason Mraz. I know we can we put up one for own Pinalakang Tabing. This entry will be updated everytime someone posts in the comments section.

Here's a partial list:

1. Kris Aquino - the most famous Pinoy celebrity blog, but is it true at all? Apparently there are no more updates. But still is a hilarious read.
2. Paula Paralejo - she is as pretty as pretty sis Rica. Paula's entries show how strong an advocate to animals she is.
3. Maxene Magalona- lovely daughter of FrancisM
4. Ciara Sotto- singer, actress daughter of Sen Tito Sotto.
5. Quark Henares - young, dynamic director of movies like "Gamitan" and "Keka", son of Atom Henares and Dra. Vicky Belo.

It seems that the Gen-X are the ones holding the blog fort, including VJ Ala Paredes, daughter of Haring Liwanag, whose blog is famous for trendy bourgeois and up blog readers. Reading her entries you'd know this lady has lofty dreams but has her feet firmly planted well on the ground. Her dad raised her very well.
