Reflections of Solitude Mississauga, November 15, 2005 Times like today, and with weather this dreary - you long for someone to hug. Problem is - she is thousands of miles away. Good thing you don't count days any longer - just hours remain til she arrives. You prepare the kuwentos, you write the titles of your DVD-recorded TV shows that she might have missed while away. You shave your 3-day goatee so that you don't look like you didn't see anybody for the past days. You get yourself busy with work and with other life's trivialities. Hours separate you from her. Til then, days like these, are harder to bear. ********* I checked back this morning, and it didn't occur to me that I'm reaching 6 figures in unique readers. Yes, those numbers down there mean something. They're not the mysterious numbers from LOST nor how much my blog is worth. They could mean if I got a dollar for every unique visitor to Memento, I would have made more than my several years' earnings. But I'd rather count the friends than the money... Well, this is also a good time to go down memory lane. Shai tagged me more than a month ago to do this: Delve into your blog archive. Find your 23rd post (or closest to). Find the fifth sentence (or closest to). Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions. Ponder it for meaning, subtext or hidden agendas. Tag five people to do the same. The problem is I dont have a 5th sentence to that burgeoining photoblog which 3.5 years ago was quite unique since only a few were doing it - there was little text, not as much as today's entry, but the shot means a lot. So here it is: my 23rd post. Black and White keyboards of my old Thinkpad. Of course we know that the keyboard is a device that allows a computer user to enter characters. In fact it is true, these keyboard has allowed us through our personal websites to show both our best and some of our worst attitudes, thoughts and feelings - our true characters. This blog is no exception. I dont see me stopping any moment soon. I can even look forward to my 2,300th entry even my 23,000th. By then, to continue the economics, if a dollar is paid for every unique Memento visitor, I'd have earned more than $100,000. (Well, not quite. Actually it should be lower than that since several thousands don't count - because I'm my own biggest visitor :) aren't we all the biggest visitors to our own blogs? It's for us anyways. :) << |
