The Police - Reunion Concert Air Canada, November 8, 2007 Only the rush hour hell to face. Packed like lemmings into shiny metal boxes. Contestants in a suicidal race. Daddy grips the wheel and stares alone into the distance, He knows that something somewhere has to break. He sees the family home now looming in the headlights, the pain upstairs that makes his eyeballs ache. Many miles away there's a shadow on the door Of a cottage on the shore Of a dark Scottish lake" - The Police They're like your high school friends from way back 21 years ago. The ones you talk to at night, listening to their woes of long distance relationships (Next to You) or life in suburbia (Synchronicity). Every night you try to hear them explain their type of love that from a distance (Every Breath You Take) or the misery of unrequited love (King of Pain). When they separated it was you who first protested (Can't Stand Losing You) and no words came out (De Do Do De Da Da) with your meek cry and humble plea to reconcile. But yes, early this year - the guys decided to band together - just like 21 years ago, just like it was yesterday. The Police are back and it seemed from the way they played last night, they were like your High School friends whose stories you'd share all night and reconnect easily as if that they weren't gone at all. ********** No, I wasn't caught by the Police as the blog entry title says, I in fact caught the Police - red-handed!
