Depeche Mode Live in Toronto 09 Molson Amphitheatre You know Im a forgiver Reach out and touch faith Your own personal Jesus Reach out and touch faith" - Depeche Mode It was an intimate party as Martin celebrated his 48th birthday and the crowd led by David Gahan sang a birthday song in what could be the 30th time they are doing it. Yes, these boys have been at it since they were 18 years old, and here they are pushing 50s and still kissing each other a happy birthday greeting. (see video below as proof) The birthday concert was well attended. More than 20,000 were on hand to celebrate 3 generations of technopopmuzak :) I saw Grandpas and their sons and their grandsons hamming it up, high-fivin on every familiar tune. The band sang close to 2 dozen hits, so just imagine 24 high fives for your grampa. They sang 18 songs during the regular concert and 2 encores after, 5 additional tracks. 23 all in all. 24 if you count the "Happy Birthday". The voice of David Gahan is still the same even better than when they were singing "Just Can't Get Enough in this video.. Their performance reminiscent of the very first time I saw them in LA and heard them in Manila. Sure, some things don't change, some just got better. My taste in music though remains the same, its 80s for me - or its remake. Good thing I got invited to this concert party. Otherwise, I would've crashed it :) Since if we talk about the 80s, for me its Depeche Mode - or nothing. ******** Here's a summary video of the night in 12 minutes. << |
