A Sort of Goodbye Globe Moment Submitted to Theme Thursday: Feet Trekking the alps with youngest sibling. Sharing the moment with my spouse. Everything on a Saturday morning. What more can you ask? (Mannlichen to Klein Scheiddeg, Switzerland, June 2003) Sort of Goodbye I allowed air and some rain to waft inside the car as I opened all the windows. It was the first rain this summer. Well, summer only officially started with the summer solstice last Saturday when my sister and I trekked the Jungfrau. Today, just like the other days, I drove the usual norm of 60 kph, but today’s pace was different, much like movie on slow motion. The view from my seat was so much in detail. People bent slightly with umbrellas to protect them from the drizzle, cars with wipers turned on from the opposite side of the street and the trees bending from the strong winds, clearer as I communed myself with the place. Yes, with this beautiful place maybe for one of the last few times. We are leaving on Monday, the end of the month, the end of this 2-year long dream. As wind continued to blow the trees whose branches seemed to be waving its goodbyes, and the lake disturbed as if wanting to say something, I thought it was rain that swept through my cheeks. They weren’t. Tears, maybe. Yes. salty they were. Goodbye. Switzerland. Thank you for all the memories. |
