Life as a Wall Life As A Wall (July 21, 2003) (Powerplant, Rockwell, Makati City, July 2003) There's a movie entitled Life As A House. Well, life can even be a door or a window (you know the Akyat-Bahay saying "if God closes a door, He opens a window"). For me, Life can also be a wall. Oftentimes we see walls merely as a place to lean on and rest. The longer you do that, the more you allow time to pass you by. Looking up, you see it's intimidating height. You're not sure if your harness will hold you through. This moment of hesitation opens up doors for a thousand and one alibis to run through your head. The contrast of doing it slowly and deliberately or fast but dizzying, or maybe that of climbing up or doing it sideways, is a proverbial choice we also do in life. Our successes and triumphs originate from the fact that we decided - and we did something out of this decision. Hurdling our wall, one must remember several tips : to place the harness anchored firmly on Him, with sights set higher than the present level. We must leave heavy baggages that tend to pull us down and upon upheaving the struggle, be sure to enjoy the view from above! |
