I Can See You Comfort Zones I worked for nearly a decade in Makati and knowing the place like the back of the palm of my hand, any other work environment would've been unwelcome. Setting up offices in the Ortigas Centre, 3 years ago was a big change. The nearest bookstore was a good 15 minutes walk, the nearest church was a 10-minute jeepney ride and the people, yes the people-scene was a tad different. Those were my criteria for a great work environment. Things have changed. Just like last Friday, I visited Bestsellers* and Astrovision** at the Podium and blew away the last money before payday Monday, got coffee with a great friend***, enjoyed a great meal with officemates across the trusty old El Pueblo restos, rolled out some pins playing bowling^ at Galleria and got out of the place nearing midnight, safe. I practically enjoyed the day all within 5 minutes from our office. Although far from being called my comfort zone. I look forward to the day that the MMDA stops experimenting on the reverse counter clockwise spaghetti-pababa kind of routes along Julia Vargas, the lack of choices for cheap cafeteria-like lunch places, and yes, a chapel within walking distance from my office, when I feel down and out like, today. Indisposed again over the weekend * - Bestsellers - got a stash of magazines and pored over books ** At Astrovision- bought John Mayer's latest CD "Heavier Things" and my favorite actor, Kevin Spacey's "The Life of David Gale" VCD. *** - coffee over cake over a lot of bantering stretching over 2 hours ^ - scored my lowest score in months, 105.
