![]() What I'll Miss from Manila (Series) ![]() Labyrinth of Mall Escalators (Shangrila Mall, March 2003) Ubiquitous is the perfect word to describe shopping malls in Metro Manila. If you can't find one within 5 kilometers from where you are, change your locality. You are in a far-flung area of the metropolis. I'll surely miss it, for more than a month at least, and not a fresh organic market in Vevey on a Saturday morning or a brocante antique sale in Villeneuve will come close to getting in a mall and doing your idle wandering (aka window shopping), suspending weather (aka "magpa-aircon"), or a central place for human activities such as hearing mass, sleeping inside the cinema and visiting your dentist. Its a whole new world in itself! |
