Passing up the Acropolis built for several centuries starting 5th century BC was a mortal sin. It was waiting for us to behold and appreciate. These pictures were the only source of memento from the Upper City we never thought of seeing in this lifetime. (Acropolis, Athens, Greece, June 2003) This morning after waiting for minutes for a good parking at a local grocerette, I chanced upon a backlight lit for several seconds. As it moved back from its spot, the driver went down just enough to irk me. "Why is he stepping down? Did he forget something from the grocery? Is his car stalling?" No. He smiled and rapped on my window and gave me his ticket - which had a good 1 hour more left. A 1 Franc savings for me. Just when you thought the Swiss are a stoic bunch of people, then this experience happens. I returned the favor to the next car trying to park on the same spot, after staying in the grocery for a good 7 minutes. "Pass the good to the next person", I said to myself half smiling. |
