Nature and Culture  The Philippines, April 2004 A mixture of cultures from various races, (Muslim, Chinese, Spanish) a land diverse with an abundance of flora and a variety of natural resources - the Philippines is and will always be my home. Last week, we were visited by a dear friend from Sweden and my wife and I became instant tourist guides to our country. Showing both nightlife (Makati), cuisine, history (Corregidor) and nature (Tagaytay). We didn't hide realities of Filipino life such as life near the railroads and shanties along the highway, the streetkids, the traffic and the lack of basic utilities. Overall, we felt happy to have showcased the country and was able to please our guest, who could only exclaim, "your country is very beautiful and has exceeded all my expectations".
