(Another) Trip to Tagaytay Tagaytay City, Cavite, Philippines, February 2004 It was like last week all over again, thus the title. It's really Groundhog Day today, but who cares (deciding whether today is the middle of the winter and spring solstice is the littlest concern for us Filipinos). We were invited for the christening of Marie Francine and the venue happened to be in Sta. Rosa. The best decision we ever made prior to the trip was to go up to Tagaytay at 6 am instead of a potential participation in the horrendous kilometer long car procession that happens starting 10am going to the south. We were right. After mass with the Pink sisters, which started amusingly late, we wanted to try out Breakfast at Antonio's. At 9:30 am, the lines would have us wait til lunch. No way (we were getting our lunch for free, remember). We decided to join the people in the most "Metro Manila" part of Tagaytay. The one where Henlin, Pancake House and Starbucks are. The last one was supposed to be our last choice, but became the choice as Pancake House had their products selling like hotcakes (pun intended). By 11am, we decided against wasting our time going shopping, by making our Christian duty to witness the christening a reality. Afterwhich, or just before it ended, we still proceeded to visit the Paseo. Between the baptism and the shopping was a throbbing head (because of the heat, since it wasn't as cold as last week) and a growling stomach (it was past 12 noon when we ended). The wait was worth it. We had lunch at Rose and Grace, the best bulalo on earth, which ironically we never got to taste). With Marie Francine asleep doing her siesta, we excused ourselves and crawled down the South Luzon "express"way down to Sucat. Just like before, just like 10 years ago, just like everyday perhaps, it was traffic - yes, all over again. Groundhog day talaga! Click Here for more : A Day Trip to Tagaytay: Part 1 |
