Can't See the Woods for the Trees? or Can't see the Trees for the Forest? In Black and White Mississauga, Canada Aren't they the same? Not seeing the trees for the forest and forest for the trees? They are supposed to be poles apart. One leads a life of being overwhelmed by the project at hand that he doesn't see that there are ways to go around it : analyse, break it down to smaller pieces, delegate and then follow up. There are those who see the details so minutely that they forget the picture of a greater task. Surrounded by the moment, engrossed by the actual realities, they seem to have gotten lost of the value of deadlines in lieu of their desire to resolve what is front of them. In a sense, we should be both. In reality, we can't. In a perfect world, we should find someone to be the other. ********* Wow, What a Week! Valentines Day (14th), NBA All-Star Weekend (16th to 18th), Fat Tuesday (20th) and today, Ash Wednesday (21th). A day each for the heart, feast for the eyes, for the tummy and now the soul. Today the 22nd, we also celebrate People Power on its 21st year. But since there were no Hallmark cards, no TV ads, or New Orleans traditions, only a few will gather in front of the EDSA shrine to reminisce what we all have forgotten or choose to forget - a miracle that happened that transformed most of our present lives - one way or another. ********* 40 Days and 40 Nights I have to think of another sacrifice aside from not eating meat. Why? My physical exams fall right smack into Lent. I never really wanted anything to show up on my annual test of the bulge. Not eating meat was really in the plans, and it always was harder when I was younger. Now its so easy. I probably let go off of something like - no colored drinks (softdrinks, coffee, red wine, etc) or something that I hate to do - exercise for the next 40 days, perhaps? << |
