   Canada vs. USA Dollar Los Angeles, CA It's funny. I'm not referring to the fact that the Canadian dollar is worth more than the US Dollar the past 3 weeks. But remembering the show Looney Tunes is. Who am I joking? Actually, I am referring to the fact that THE CANADIAN DOLLAR is worth $1.03 to the US Greenback and even hit as high as 1.11 at one time :) So when this news came about, and my recent being in-between jobs happened, there was no reason to sulk, but more reason to celebrate. I The result? - A new MacBook Pro worth $ 1,099. That could easily be CAD $ 1,249.00 or if converted to USD would have been USD $ 1,286.00. Easily a 15% discount. In reality, I didnt pay for it. I was on vacation, no work, no money and I needed a job so I got myself one, and that meant I needed a new laptop to learn Keynote, Numbers and Words. So there...after returning my Mac and my other laptop and my phone 2 weeks ago, am back with a new job, a new and shiny laptop and some other surprises on the work front. Life is good. ********** But its still worth coming down the border to see what a Canadian can get. A 24-hour stay in New York will afford one to have a $ 50 tax free shopping. But with the US Thanksgiving sales across the border, one can get as much 30-50% discount and that can easily pay for the 14% taxes and duties one is supposed to pay the Canadian gods due from your shopping from the US rather in Canada. :P Still worth it. And that's what makes it funnier. *********** What is funniest? The price match doesn't end. Here's one from Best Buy. And that's where I'm heading to check some new toys for the new Mac.
