The Many Faces of Gabby Canada It will be close to 8 years now since Memento was born and if it were a baby then, now he'd be a nerdy Second Grader. Throughout those 8 years I've witnessed blog friends have their own and have blogged about the pregnancy, the birth and the growing up of their bloggable babies. I've met Melissa or AnP even before she gave birth to both boys, J & M. Shai was still in Singapore when we became blog friends and in the span of 5 years moved to Australia and had 2 kids. Tin or Pinayhekmi was as sexy as she is now, pre-Mina or post-Mina. They are just among those way back 2002 whose lives we all witnessed in this virtual world. Even my siblings, Linnor and May had their own babies virtually grow up in front of our eyes from ultrasound to ultra kulit years. My good friend Vangie, stepped out of blogging as soon as Ryan asked for her blog time, but now has Ali, so scratch any plans of seeing her back in the blog world. I thought it'd be the same with Kala...but of course we're glad that she is back. Bunny was still spunky then and now a spunky mumsy now with a precocious boy. My cousin Mimi has 2, Toni has Timmy, Rene has Annika, Mark and Petite has Elle and of course Christine has Amelie and Isaiah. All of them had had for some time moved in and out of the blog world to take on this humbling role as parents and I am so happy I join them in this club. It just makes me wonder and hats off to all of them, that they find time for their work, the almost daily blogging and the child rearing. I actually know of someone who breastfeeds while writing a blog on motherhood. That to me is commitment. And so it comes to this point that I realize that I've been committed since 2001 with my 2 first blogs: Lonely Tylenol and Blog of Lists, both of which are still online but since I bought a digital camera in 2002 has been moved to Memento. This Memento, to which I hope to be committed in another 8 years time. For now, once I see Gabby asking for my time away from the laptop, keyboard and mouse are dropped, it is him who is now my commitment. But Memento lives on and you will see more Fatherhood stories despite being few and far between. << |
