It was another great discovery to have stayed in a B&B which provides a haven for any traveller's needs in Viller Bocage. La Ferme du Pressoir fits the complete bill. A good hostess in Mdme Delalande who compensates the gap in language with her great hospitality matching the great surrounds of her family. This even consists of hectares of stock farm (complete with cows and chicken). The rooms were palatial, the place quiet and near the center known for its gastronomic cooking. The price? Well worth it. We then proceeded to Lisieux for another pilgrimage. My wife, a Theresian, aptly considers growing up knowing the life of St. Therese of the Child Jesus and considers the 1 hour drive to Lisieux as a fitting cap to this journey of sights, sounds and spirituality. We thought that was it, until, we again looked at each other and said, "let's go for another 2-3 hours around" and off we went to another small village. Without doubt, this is the best thing about a road trip - just enough time to say - the heck with tour guides, as long as we have our trusty old Mazda Premacy and each other - that's all we need to make another small village - the best village in all of France. |
