Day 1 : From Vevey to Rouen, France in 8 hours Click Thumbnail to View Larger Image
Rouen, a city that has the distinction to have burned at its stake the most famous "heretic", St. Joan of Arc (who incidentally became France's patron saint), is an 8 hour drive from our place in Vevey, Switzerland. The road trip was long but as always, very enjoyable. Driving 4 hours each and passing through Fountainbleu, Paris and Versailles, we were able to arrive at Rouen at 3:30 in the afternoon and enjoyed crossing its 1,001 pedestrian lanes and craning our necks at its numerous bell towers, 2 of which we can see from our hotel window. Early next day, fresh and ready to see more of Normandy - we left our half-timber, half-cement hotel for fishing village, Fecamp. |
