Following His Footsteps Following His Footsteps Pagsanjan, Laguna, March 2004 There was a time I wanted to be priest. Since this is not an April Fool's Day post, you'd know I wasn't joking. That was when our Prep teacher asked us to draw what we wanted to be when we grow up. To cut to the chase, I got married, but the desire to follow in His footsteps are still there. This time, the vocation became to be a fisher of men but as part of the laity. My religion professor from the university mentioned it aptly, "You'd still be a priest, a priest of your own household." Last Sunday, we witnessed the first profession (one of 6 steps to becoming a priest) of a friend who we saw from his beginnings as a catechist (with my wife during Sunday school) to now a consecrated man, few steps from being a priest. We too can follow His footsteps in our own little way. Brother Orlan may have started a late vocation, but he'd get there soon. It's also not late for us, we too in our own way can be like him. As we pray for him, we also pray that in our daily dealings with men we make it an objective to do good and to be able to fish men to the company of our Father in heaven. Have a meaningful Lenten week ahead! |
