Balls Balls Balls Pasadena and Century City Shopping for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf. The good you do for others is good you do yourself." ~Norman W. Brooks, "Let Every Day Be Christmas" I've been to LA for a lot of times now, but haven't really explored it from the eyes of a shopper. Thank God for friends who provide a weekend to just do that and spend some time to see places I only hear about from other people. Some places I can now tick off from my "To-Go-To" list :) ********* Shopping in LA is a lot better than in Canada. Price-wise, you get it from 6% less (that's the Canadian GST on top of the 8% PST) and for better deals at that. It's always prudent to think whether to know if the product you're eyeing is something that is available online (no taxes and no fees on deliveries for some online shopping) or can be bought from the outlets for warehouse pricing and further discounting. But who am I to sound like an expert in all these? My maxim in shopping is that if it's something I need and it's half of the original price when it was first released in the market - then GRAB IT! ********* here they are, and not in any order - Downtown Santa Monica and Third Street Promenade - I just love walking here with all the lights, almost year-long. It's been a constant destination for years and no LA trip is complete without passing through this place. My favorite stores are the Apple, Borders, Barnes and Noble and Nike stores. - The Grove at the Farmers Market - makes you feel like you're back in Eastwood City :) Memories from last year bring me to remembering walking with Mitzi last year. I love the home decor stores here, browsing but not buying :P - Hollywood and Highland - just reminds me of my first time in Hollywood and how it felt. I've shared the same feeling when Mama and Papa visited as well as when Linnor and Jerry were here in LA. But amongst all these, there has been no mall that can beat my favorite shopping place for all my digital, electronic hunger - FRY's! Labs, I spent some amount of money again there last night. I promise we need them... << |
