Putting the Punch in Punch line Papa's Birthday 2006 People have been introduced to the serious side of Paparazzi through this blog. His usual one-line homilies and words of wisdom often live me nothing for a repartee. What others don't really know is that behind that facade is really a man who is really serious - or aptly and more accurately rather - serious magpatawa. Growing up, he'd always answer back Mama, that "It's better to sleep, because when you sleep you don't commit a sin." which actually was his usual alibi for being drowsy oftentimes in front of the TV or sometimes missing the most of family discussions or arguments in lieu of a brief slumber. And then when we were all in university and he'd be driving us to La Salle, he'd always hear something from Linnor because of his driving. He'd just answer - "I drive slow, because I'm in a hurry.", to the consternation of his passengers. Papa's retort has been postively manifested in that he hasn't met any car accident in 40 years of driving - although Linnor sees it differently as she was late to office and school a lot of times. Papa is the epitome of "silent water runs deep", but oftentimes his silence is just waiting for the next opportunity to break the ice, crack a joke, or make light any serious discussion. He takes life less seriously, and continuous to be proud that he just got a new lease in life with a brand new heart, a product of his quadruple heart operation. Now at a ripe age of 65, not really old, of course with his new heart, he continues to unravel different aspects of his pun and humor and shares it through the comments box, some even get spam emails from him from time to time, haha. Whatever it is, it's a nice feeling to share Papa or rather Paparazzi to the rest of the world. Share with me in greeting him a great day. Although 65 is generally a year for retirement, I don't think we'd see him retire from his best job that he has been tasked to do - to see life less serious than what it already is. ******* So now you know who the Memento Mentor is, not just in creativity, photography, but in making the most out of any situation and seeing the world in a different light. Happy Birthday Pa! << |
