Which Card Do I Play Today? Mississauga, Canada Back when I was younger, that testy tube with a moving mercury told Mama what state I was. She'd pull it out and say, "you've got fever." "What's the temperature, Ma?" I'd ask. 38. So I associate reaching 38, as having fever, with muscle pains, body aches and a bowl of arroz caldo. Today I turn 38, but I'm nowhere having those. Well not this hour, but sometimes I do. After minutes of shovelling snow, climbing the stairs and when I will my body to shut down - which by the way, is often these days :) But really, the state of the body will be known by the doctor's exams today, but I still feel young despite the salt and pepper colored hair, which yesterday was trimmed down to not show the salt but more of the pepper. I can be the Nature Lover, who can walk aimlessly in parks, savor fresh air and even climb mountains if need be. I can be the Sports Lover: who will cheer for hours, jump with my favorite players on TV and even outbox Paquiao as if I had Wii Consoles in my hand. Or I can be the Muscle Man, to carry groceries, all 10 bags of them up the stairs, or a load of laundry on Wednesdays. Lastly, I can be the Traveller still outwalk any traveller so as long as we see something new in any of our travels. I'm 38, fever-pitch age - still young and yes - hot :) << |
