 We Chose Mom's Crabbing Sweet Spot from Since 1993  Our First and Only Catch  After Almost an Hour with only 1 Catch - It's Time to Go Home Crabbing Virginia Beach, Virginia (August 20, 2007) In Virginia, the pasttime is to go crabbing. So we did go and experienced it - and was rewarded, when we "caught" one.  No, the crab literally wanted to be caught as he grappled over the rocks and made himself available. So there, he wanted to be eaten and no one grabbed him back to sea. Good for him. Good for us too! We had something to show for our 1-hour efforts. ****** Crab Mentality - Good and Bad? Crab mentality is both good and bad. Good if you are doing it as a family who wouldn't want anyone from the brood to be taken and eaten so you pull them back to the bucket and let others be taken ahead. Bad, if you step on others for you to succeed, or you start walking away from the maddening crowd and sit by yourself in the corner hoping the arm which takes the crab for killing takes them ahead of you. ****** The Philippine blogosphere is in that scenario. It was good that they banded together to make one Malu Fernandez resign from her post (video courtesy of Mukamo) after a scathing article against OFWs. And within the same last week, crab mentality was its worst form when some people felt that term "Philippine blogosphere" is trademarked to them (well, not really, I'm just exaggerating) and no one can use it other than those in the crab bucket clique. (Yes, this was my take after reading, "Dear Janette, sentence in italics). Kind of parochial-mentality, which pulls us some decades back, when we called certain regions sweeping adjectives to describe them. Tsk tsk tsk...good thing, both are resolved now..a good sign of maturity from both parties...all the crabs are still alive. ******* Oh by the way, you want to take a punch at Malu? Come on, she invites you to (in case she was the one who placed the comment)...go ahead! ******* CFC splits and another group called Restoration, probably less-aligned to Gawad Kalinga resurfaces. I'm not sure if I should categorize this as crab bucket mentality, but definitely we will see in the next few days where some people will go and stand. We can only pray that everything, as in anything blessed by the Lord, will be resolved in due time. ******* The thing was I had to go to Virginia to experience crabbing, when in the confines of my home office, I can already sense crabbing in a different sense just from blog hopping. ******* By the way, I'm allergic to crabs.
