Rainbow Over Our Townhouse Last Weekend Cordoba, Spain Rainbow Niagara Falls, Canada Rainbow Crayons Connections Mississauga, Ontario, Canada I got s*cked into it. Yes. This blue faced greenhorn is now booked permanently in Facebook.* Just like anything new I took the app on a drive...and guess where it led me - 5 days of constantly logging in, checking for updates and even playing games with my virtual friends. Ahhhh! ***** Hi, My name is Memento, and I'm a Facebookaholic. ***** I was once so opposed to the Social Networking craze after joining my first one back in 2003. Then I joined another, and another, and another. My objective was just for me to try it and see where it goes. After the frist 4, I told myself - tama na!. When we got to Canada, 3 years ago, lo and behold, my first job in a Canada web company was to create a social network website for like-minded Chinese and another for IT professionals. Both died on the wayside after I resigned and this helped get rid of my addiction. I only updated my photo account (for obvious reasons) and left the others for that intermittent request from a friend from 10 years ago to be "friends"... But last week I relented. I gave in. My objective was clear (as every addict will say) : I wanted to see how an app like Facebook would become a successful marketplace for other applications, not created by Facebook, but attached to Facebook, to be useful. Somewhat like a software-as-a-service application. Yes, my objective was geeky and is part of my research for another job I'm about to do. But as anything that we do more than the usual dosage - the thing became so addicting. I want out. I maybe attending my first Facebook-aholic Anonymous meeting soon. ******* Our rainbow connections need not be online. Some of my best friends are not even on my Facebook account nor in any Social Networking site I'm in, but we all know we are connected and our lives that are as colorful as the rainbow are joined together. As a conclusion, I won't delete the Facebook account, I'll leave it as it is. Maybe play scrabble every once in a while :) I have to end this blog entry. I have to go, its my turn now. :) << |
