Ginger Gold Apples - gold medal for taste! Mississauga, Ontario What is the brain's chemical composition that when we think of dolls, we immediately think of girls' toys? or when we say doctors, we immediately think that only men can become one? This is called stereotyping. When things, places or events are placed in a mold (just like a printing press' mold) - and generally when most fit the specifications of that mold - the rest of the lot is the same as the first few. But isn't that sampling? (or profiling? or generalizing? or sweeping?) Yes....I guess I'm not being good at this. Anyway, when we say "color of an Apple" - immediately we'd say, "Red"...I'd say red, and I will only eat a red apple because that's how I know sweet apples to be...so when I saw the Ginger Gold variety during our apple-picking last Sunday, my brains told my legs to move on and find red apples :) Of course, when I saw Mitzi and mom eating the green ones, I had to try it. My brains were wrong. I stereotyped apples too! ******** Of course you know Kobe is in Manila. Naturally, everyone will shower him their affection, despite people calling him a ballhog (yes, he scored 81 points in one game, but his team won after trailing by 18 points), or a sex offender (his case was dismissed exactly 3 years ago yesterday)...but no one knows that he has a soft spot for Filipinos...and kids too... Here are pictures from Kobe's day yesterday in the Philippines. He was amazed by the jeepney design of him in the most recent # 10 USA uniform he wore in the recent FIBA-Americas where the US won the Gold. If you scroll down the images, I just love his smile whenever he is around children.... And yes, I own dolls. Only Kobe dolls. But this one is not going to be part of my Kobe doll collection. << |
