Ready for Season 4 Mississauga, Ontario I was cursing my laptop, and almost tore away my hair from the utter feeling of distraught. "Huy, bakit? was the concerned question by my wife. "I was only 2 points away after trailing 105 points, then my opponent placed this word - "AHIMSA" - triple word. Ughhhh!", I explained with a dash of disbelief. "'Kala ko kung ano e", as her usual peace-keeping way of brushing aside my anger and non-stop tantrum over an online Facebook app. "I hate losing.", that's probably been my "competitive me" mantra since circa 1970 (that was since I was 1). I really couldn't bear seeing a loss when all one, and that's me, could've done was just play extra harder. (redundant ata yun) Well, from child games, to school academics, I never really lost the competitive spirit in me. I admit I only was more "magnanimous" in victory and in defeat after getting married. Only then have I just given way to being able to enjoy whatever I delve into and not thinking that everything is a game and that it is a zero-sum equation. Medyo relaxed na ng konti. Back to Scrabulous, (yeah Vangie, you started the downfall), and I was surprised that after winning 8 straight games, it was ok to lose and enjoy the word-creation game that even losing 15 of the next 20 games was fun and exciting. For anyone with a competitive side aka evil frustration leading to injuring one's opponent (link to Zidane the Italy-France World Cup Final) - there are days that you just want to have some action you'd see in Hockey or Boxing (sometimes you'd see Boxing in Hockey games too). I guess that's NOT normal as we've seen players play and retire without even a blemish of unsportsmanlike attitude during their sports career. I'm not sure if Tiger Woods has hit someone with his golf club lately. Am sure Eugene Torre, Paeng Nepomuceno and Efren Bata Reyes have always shown "grace under pressure". AHIMSA, my losing word, by the way, meant, being able to effectively counteract and eradicate completely the brutal, bestial nature in man. Amen. ********** Tonight, "Lost" Season 4 starts at 8PM woohoo! Good thing they were able to shoot 8 episodes before the writers' guild went on strike. Thursday nights will never be the same again. I guess, it will be Scrabulous-free too! The video on the left is not really "Lost" but it is as interesting and as mysterious...in case you haven't seen it, watch out for a surprise guest. The video on the right is for those who haven't followed "Lost". You now can see it in 8 minutes 15 seconds and CATCH UP :) ********** New England Pats will be winning this year's Superbowl on a memorable 19 Wins and No loss record. Speaking of "losing", the Brady bunch will not let go of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Well, not really, as it will be their 4th in 7 years! Talk about dynasty. Once, the Pats take the crown, that'll make 2 Boston teams crowned as champs for 2007-08. The Red Sox and Patriots are this year's Baseball and Football's champs. Are the Celtics next? Well, they just lost to the Toronto Raptors last week. Next up - the Lakers... (Guess who, I'll be rooting for....) :P Update: Just jinxed the Patriots...am the total loser, hehe << |
