Super, Fat, Tuesday Mississauga, Ontario I only remember Tuesday's for KFC's Toonie Tuesday, but today she will be known by many names other than "Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras". Today, she's been called - "Giga Tuesday," "Mega Giga Tuesday," "Tsunami Tuesday" or even "Super Duper Tuesday". The last couple of days have been full of great names, but none better than Eli, Barack or Pau. I guess the best, albeit most obscure name of all should be Plaxico. After the great Superbowl game last Sunday, I'd think one or two babies will be named Plaxico this week. What do you think? ********* THE PLAY OF THE NIGHT The pivotal play I believe, and the one that elicited the loudest yalp and jumping from my Superbowl fanatic wife, was the great escape of Eli Manning and the long pass and memorable catch by Tyree. Here's one last look at that David Tyree catch to give Giants a fresh set of downs leading to the last 35-second TD of Burress. This is the best reason why in sports you should really use your head and helmet. Go watch the last 2 minutes of the game. (Pic on left, from Newsday) Ok, that was one heaping full to the brim serving of Superbowl goodies. Tuesday will also be one big political showdown in the US with Super Tuesday. But most of all, it is the last day before the start of the lenten season which begins on Ash Wednesday. The last day to eat meat for most people who fast and abstain from meat for the whole duration of Lent. Thus, the name, Fat Tuesday. Whatever name you call it, I'm still writing down, (see pic above) and trying to fill my day with appointments. I'd probably call it Blank Tuesday. :P << |
