 From Cocoon to Butterfly Montemar, Bataan My recent trip back to the Philippines allowed me to witness a lot of changes. No, I'm not only talking about the drastic improvement in traffic flow along EDSA or coming home along South Superhighway. Maybe half of them were in the big boxed-type malls and not wanting to go home. Or because of the high prices of gasoline (Php 38 per liter), some have taken the same route I took - to go public. I was able to see the change in reaction of the ordinary Pinoy to the glaring government problems. You could sense a feeling of resolve to do better, some of callousness, some a slight feeling of resignation. Pinoy pa! "Wala ka nang magagawa, kahit sino pang i-upo mo diyan, mangungurakot rin"...."Buti pa, mag trabaho na lang ako ng mabuti...kikita pa ako ng pera kesa mag rally rally". For me, after seeing 2 People Power rallies, sleeping in EDSA, and hearing about botched coup d'etats with hotels being torn down, it was actually fine. Finally, Juan de la Cruz knows what's best to do. ********* Did you know that finally you can now own a share of the favorite Pinoy beer? I'll probably buy one case of San Miguel IPO Beer! ********* Speaking about IPO. ********* Speaking about PO...Pope... Pope Benedict XVI turned 81 years old last April 16, and celebrated his birthday as he was welcomed to the White House. His 6-day visit to the US has been successful so far and we have seen him in baseball stadiums filled with nuns and immigrant American families. The Pope will be in his pope mobile in Washington and New York. Surprisingly, his itinerary doesn't include Catholic-laden city Boston. ********** Speaking of Boston....its back in 80s in the NBA - Boston is # 1 in the East and my Lakers are back being the Best in the West....Woot!!! I'm living my teenage years and I hope that being 1.5 hrs away from Boston and 5 hrs LA will allow me to watch the first NBA Finals game in my lifetime.
