Walk with Yan The Beach All by Themselves - ourselves This Hut or that House? - Your Pick Memories of Christmas with the Family Samal Island, Davao, December 2008 In my recent past, I could pass up as a "Viajero". Apparently in 2008, this wasn't much of a case as it was obvious that the traveling were less and the experience of "just flying" was more. There were no ski trips, no museum tours or anything, but who can complain if I had a lot of pure unadulterated quality time with family and my best friend, my wife. Here is my Life in 2008, in Cities: (where I stayed for more than 12 hours) inspired by Kottke's who was inspired by Year in Cities, 2005 Manila, Philippines* * - for those I visited more than once Removed Kawit, Cavite, Philippines since technically, we only stayed there for less than 6 hrs, but I went back for another 6 hrs in a separate visit, totalling to 12 hrs Some notes on my list: o Familiar places such as, Boston, Manhattan and LA weren't even in the list for this year, disavowing the possibility that travel was getting less expensive. o If I wasn't anywhere, where did I spend my time? rather, Where did the time go? o If not for the last 90 days of the year, without which, the only country where I laid my hat would've been Canada and the Philippines. ******* Don't even start asking my life in 2008 in books (1), movies on the big screen (6) and stage plays (a big fat egg). Time flies. Some things NEED to change. << |
