The GKYB Contingent After Crossing the Finish Line Walk Walk Walk on a Glorious Sunny Day - A Gift from the Lord! All Smiles After Kilometer 3 GK Walk 2007 Earl Bales Park, North York, Toronto I walked for a cause last Saturday. Last year I asked help for your support to walk with me and also solicited financial support for the same noble cause of helping the projects of Gawad Kalinga and for increased awareness of their projects directed to help the poorest of the poor especially in the Philippines. It may have been old age, memory leak or the combination of both that I forgot to ask for the same for this year. As the young set would say, "My Bad". The date crept on me and suddenly was there staring. The GK Walk happened last September 8. But if in the goodness of your heart, there's that tiny voice that says, "do it", may I knock on the same heart and ask for it to shout louder? It's not too late. Please direct any amount as donations via paypal to gkyouthbuild@gmail.com. All proceeds will be pooled with the rest of the GKYB group to be used to building a GK house. Please accept my advanced "gratitude" for your help. ******* As a sign of me saying "thank you", here is a video summary of our experience during the immersion that we did last July 2007. We visited 12 GK Villages, and together with other youth groups, built houses in 2 of the 12. All of the villages were beneficiaries of donations from both US and Canada. We stayed mostly in Canada villages and the Canadian youth who were with me can attest that the change that was happening in the GK villages - the increase in dignity and their gratitude to God for the blessings that they have received, also, in a big way, opened their eyes, and has given them appreciation of what they have. One of them was entering university and the GKYB program was partly instrumental in deciding what vocation to take. True to the rallying cry of the group, "Building communities. Building the Youth". I hope you can join us in a future GK Build to see for yourself, na may pag-asa talaga ang Pilipinas. The next one is this coming January 2008. If you can extend a Christmas vacation to spend 1-week in GK Villages, please email me, so we can have strength in numbers. Target dates are the first week of the year. It will be a meaningful start of the new year for you and the GK villagers! << |
