11 AM : Grapes 11:30 AM: We got our bottle - the Riesling Reserve! 12:00 NN: On the Road again to the next winery 1 PM : Where to Next? Fall Watching : Mid Day of Day 2 Along Keuka and Seneca Lakes, New York - Nathaniel Hawthorne The Green marks all the 93 wineries around 3 lakes of 11 lakes comprising the Finger Lakes region. After every wine tasting, you may ask if we drove under the influence? No. I was only happy to try small sips but was happier to just watch Mitzi use her nose, taste and swallow drops of alcohol, take a few crackers and see her nod for appreciation. The Finger Lakes region can rival that of our other dream long drive, that of the Wine Trail in the Napa Valley and the Sonoma County. There is no Hitching Post, my favorite Pinot Noir, for now, but the White Wines here in this region have been superb. The 2006 batch is a great collection and we were happy to have several "reserves" as part of our stash. They are a bit pricey due to their lower yield which means more concentration and the quality of oak barrels that were used. We got the maximum of 3 bottles each of 750 ml so that we can cross the Canada border sans problems with Customs. :) After the wine trail we had to wash them down, not only by water and crackers, but by eating our lunch and finally by walking...this time, another trail. A hiking trail. ************* More of the Wine Trail mid-day activities here ************* Paris Hilton wins the sexiest DUI Mug Shot from among poll votes vs Lindsay, Nicole and Mischa. No, that's not Mischa, that's our favorite Canadian star, Kiefer, ready to defend the first African-American President in the TV series, "24" and in real life? ************** Yes, indeed the weekend was busy, albeit very rewarding. The onslaught of weekends like these will continue til end of the year. So we need to rest during the weekdays...nah. Back to work. << |
