5:30 PM: Mahirap magabihan sa isang sementeryo. Sige alis na kami...

Fall Watching : Afternoon of Day 2
Woodlawn Cemetery, New York

"Magic Hour" ang tawag ko sa dapit-hapon kung saan ang liwanag ng araw ay kapantay ng mga nais makunan ng litrato. Dito magandang kumuha ng landscape o di kaya'y mga halaman at puno.

Inabutan kami ng "Magic Hour" sa puntod ng isa sa mga paborito kong manunulat, si Mark Twain. Siya nga pala ang kauna-unahang manunulat na nabasa ko nung ako'y 7 taong gulang. Dalawa sa kanyang akda ang natapos ko, ang Adventures ni "Huck Finn" at ni "Tom Sawyer". Namangha ako sa kanyang pagsusulat at naging minsan ko rin panaginip na maging manunulat tulad niya.

Siempre, di dumating ang "magic hour" at ang ideya ng pagiging manunulat ay nagmistulang isang madilim na panaginip lamang.

We visited Woodlawn Cemetery on the last hour of our long drive.

I call this the "Magic Hour", when the light is seemingly on the same plane as your pictures' subjects. We reached Mark Twain's grave at this enchanting moment, just like when he was born and died during the time of the "Halley's Comet".

Whatever was inspiring with his little boy stories, was as enchanting as his burial place. Serene and perfect for soliloquy. Mark Twain can't ask for a better burial place than in Elmira, New York.
